About Minutes MATter
We are a nonprofit working to prevent overdose and reduce the impact of substance use and behavioral health conditions through education, outreach, and community engagement.
Our purpose
Minutes MATter: Overdose Prevention Fund Inc. is organized for the following purposes: to support the prevention of drug overdose and reduce the impact of substance use and behavioral health conditions; to reduce stigma and educate the public about medication-assisted treatment; to help people obtain treatment and recovery support; and to promote recovery and community well-being through education, outreach, training, community engagement, and related prevention activities.
Our board
Our board is made up of community members from diverse professional backgrounds. Some were drawn to this cause after loved ones faced mental health challenges, and they saw firsthand how hard it can be to find a way through a complicated behavioral health system. Some bring their own lived experience. Others have watched the overdose crisis reach their communities and want to help prevent it there.
Our approach
Lived experience leads
People are more open to hearing from someone who has been where they are. Our programs are designed to be led by trusted messengers with lived experience, alongside professionals.
Familiar is easier
When reaching help is familiar, people are more likely to seek it before a crisis. That is why our trainings build behavioral health knowledge and comfort with telehealth tools at the same time.
Education, not treatment
We provide education and community programs. We do not provide medical care, counseling, screening, or treatment.
